Technology – Transparency - Public Access is My Mantra
I’m Terry McGinn and my conviction is that the county, the city and their planning and environmental issues require the skills of the staff but mostly those qualified volunteers who will step up to help. I have been deeply involved as a citizen for 5 years and we need to up the game on progress. The county and agencies need those who will expend some effort and experience in business and technology.
This effort requires more!!
More strong fiscal discipline.
More detailed comprehensive planning with action items and accountability.
More public transparency and community outreach using the tools all progressive municipalities use every day.
The county, the city and special districts are charged with oversight and guidance through their councils and commissions.
The solutions are about many types of sciences and using the latest technology to achieve the growth, mission and goals.
The incumbent councils and boards can affect those changes with their members who can work together.
Let me be clear. I understand the missions, I am qualified, I am motivated, I am here to contribute without ulterior motives and I will not be the “Status Quo” you hear about.

WHY I POST WHAT’S IMPORTANT
In 2010, I retired from industry after 46 years of working in the technical world. For 10 more years I consulted in industry and mentored some very bright persons.
Over those 60 years I became proficient in many sciences and technologies. Back when I was 25 and VP (Operations) for EG&G SEALOL 3 colleagues and I were sent to Yale for a series of Psychological pre-employment testing. The top managers at EG&G sent us to evaluate the test series for use as a screening tool for new manager hires. I was told that my evaluations revealed that my main skills were problem identification and solutions but more important was that I could see multiple problems derived from the initial solution and subsequent solutions for those newly created problems.
In my next 50 years that skill made me a creative manager of problems and solutions. This skill still burns brightly in my mind.
If you ask all my colleagues over the years and those I mentored they will confirm this skill of mine.
After years of mid to upper technical management I created my own company and for the next 17 years my team created, fabricated and implement successively more advanced systems and software to automate industrial operations. During those years we were fortunate enough to sail the ocean, teach our kids great skills and embed ourselves in the island life of the Bahamas, both sailing and living in Eleuthera.
Island life and sailing throughout the Bahamas exposed me the the environment and as a resident and ex patriot I was deeply immersed in environmental issues in a 3rd world country, as well as the bureaucracy that made their “world go round”. I slowly became an activist for the persons I came to love and the environment I lived in. That included Hurricane Andrew (direct hit) in 1992 and 4 subsequent smaller hurricanes, storms at sea, pollution both island land and the ocean.
After 20 years of living (part time) off shore and cruising from Nantucket to the Keys we moved to Indian River County and the City of Sebastian in 2007. Still in Bucks County, PA for 4 months a year I still had my hands full as President of a Community Organization of 165 homes including all infrastructure. By 2018 I was done with all that and focused on my life in Sebastian. The next 7 years saw me involved in the Indian River Lagoon and the City of Sebastian, a wonderful well run community.
I feel that my experience and skills can continue to create contributions th the city, the county and the complex environment of the Indian River Lagoon.
That is why I am keeping this (formerly campaign) website as a vehicle for my efforts and output. I still have the right energy and experience to bring the missions forward.
